Soror Cheryl SmithWelcome to the official website of Nu Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Established in 1908 on the campus of Howard University, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African-American college-educated women. The membership of Nu Iota Omega chapter consist of women who have chosen to give back to their communities through volunteer service. We are proud to celebrate over thirty years of compassionate service in the Central Florida area.

Nu Iota Omega Chapter embraces the goals and objectives of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. As we strive to become an eco-friendly chapter, it is our mission to create a healthy, safe and educated community by addressing the following global initiatives:

  • Leadership development among middle school girls
  • Personal fitness, healthy life styles and energy efficiency
  • Sustainable food practices which alleviate poverty & hunger
  • Financial literacy and wealth building
  • Social justice and human rights

Ivy Tea Rose provides the members of Nu Iota Omega additional opportunities to support our community through grants and partnerships. We take special pride in our mentoring program, The Ivy Rosettes. The girls experience leadership tips, speaking opportunities as well as self-improvement ideas.

Miss Pearl of Promise Is Here!

Miss Pearl of Promise

On Saturday, June 8, 2013, Ivy Tea Rose, Inc.® and Nu Iota Omega of AKA will host the inaugural “Miss Pearl of Promise” Scholarship Pageant and Silent Auction. After completing a series of workshops through the Emerging Young Leaders mentoring program, participants will showcase their talent and be recognized for their community and academic achievements. The pageant will be a culminating presentation, reflecting ten months of leadership, educational, cultural, and community service activities that will enhance young girls’ lives. The young lady crowned “Miss Pearl of Promise” will be awarded a $1000 scholarship. Other awards include Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, and monetary prizes for 1st and 2nd runner-up.

Previous collaboration efforts between Ivy Tea Rose, Inc.® and Nu Iota Omega have resulted in annual scholarship awards to deserving high school seniors, steady mentoring programs at the elementary and middle school level, and the support of various community events raising funds for economically disadvantaged youth.

All proceeds from “Miss Pearl of Promise” will be used to provide scholarship funds to each winner, as well as support academic scholarships, and other essential community programs. Since Ivy Tea Rose, Inc.® is a 501 (c)(3) organization that promotes education, health, and social development of children and families, up to fifty percent of all ticket purchases are tax-deductible. Monetary and in-kind donations made to Miss Pearl of Promise are 100% tax deductible. Remember, your support in this event is an investment in the future of our children, as well as our community.
