The Ivy Connection Visits the
Banfield Veterinary Clinic

September 24, 2005. Each year the participants of the Ivy Connection submits to the committee their choices for field trips for the year. One such request was a visit to a veterinary clinic. The committee chose the Banfield Veterinary Clinic in Lake Mary, Florida. Dr. Sabrina Wiggins was our hostess and guide. Dr. Wiggins is a graduate of Florida A& M University in Tallahassee, Florida and she received her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Wiggins explained the requirements for a degree in veterinary medicine as well as explained unlike physicians, veterinarians are expected to be able to treat several different species of patients, e.g. dogs, cats, birds, squirrels, etc. and all of their anatomy is quite different from specie to specie.
