Black Family BBQ
October 7, 2006. The Black Family BBQ was a day filled with fun activities and great food! The Sorors of Nu Iota Omega invited family and friends out the Barnett Park, Pavilion 2 to play cards, bingo, Tabu, other games, socialize and just enjoy a relaxing Autumn day. A Under the Sea/Mermaid Moonwalk was provided for the kids and they really had an enjoyable time. Delicious ribs and chicken were catered and prepared by Bar-B-Q-Boyz. The entrees were accompanied by some very delectable side dishes and desserts compliments of the Sorors of the Chapter. The Sorors also took the opportunity to give back to the community by purchasing and bringing backpacks, duffle bags, luggage, personal care items and clothing to the Black Family BBQ to donate to The Department of Children and Family Services. These items will be delivered to DCF so that they can be provided to children who are transitioning into a foster care or other home setting. Sorors and female guests at the BBQ were provided pink ribbons and literature in recognition of October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sorors and guests were invited to join the chapter's Health Committee participation in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 28.
