Centennial Pilgrimmage

Sorry, no java browser

January 15, 2008. The pilgrimmage of Alpha Kappa Alpha members on Howard's campus was indeed a beautiful and spiritual event. The Centennial International President, Barbara McKenzie unveiled 5 markers placed on the campus to commemorate our centennial. The design of the markers is "three ivy leaves" intertwined and overlapped. International President Barbara McKenzie stated that they symbolized the "Trinity". The markers are fabricated of cast bronze plate on a polished black granite base. The five markers are located at: (1) Rankin Chapel (site of the Founders Window), (2) Slowe Residence Hall (named for Lucy Diggs Slowe), (3) Miner Hall (site of the Genesis of AKA, (4) Moorland-Spingarn Research Center (site of the International Archives of AKA) and (5) the AKA Plot (A gathering for AKA's resurrected in 1972).
